Hi,

I have Windows Vista, but I'm not sure if it is Vista that is causing the problem.

When I download Open BVE, it downloads correctly, but when it comes to installing it - the little box in the middle of the screen comes on to start the installation, but almost instantly, a pop-up comes up saying 'Open BVE is not responding' and it closes the window.

Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve this please?

Hello and welcome.

First, the program you downloaded and extracted from openbve_stable.zip, openbve.exe, is not an installer. It is the main program itself. Second, there are a number of additional files that you need to download separately. You will find complete instructions here.
