Could you please post a screenshot from Openbve and from BVE 4 to highlight the difference you're refering to... remember that BVE4 is restricted to a nearly-square viewpoint, whereas Openbve has to use whatever screensize you give it (eg. widescreen) meaning that the "square" 2D cab will be zoomed/letter-boxed to fit (if you ask Openbve to use the same nearly-square ratio as BVE4 they should be appearing identical).

Hi Sladen, Apologies for the delay on replying. Here are the two images you requested.

The first screen grab is from OpenBVE of the opening image, which you can see is fixed very close, and as I mentioned can't be reduced in any way. Both BVE4 and OpenBVE are set for normal image size on my monitor.

The second image (below) is from BVE4. The image opens slightly large but can be reduced a few stages by pressing the 'P' key.

@BillEWS: You can zoom out using 142088 in openBVE, you just have to move down a bit first (and also to the right, if you want to zoom out even further). As an alternative, why don't you edit the first paragraph of the train's panel2.cfg to read Center = 510, 450 instead of Center = 510, 350 and see if you like that better.

@sladen: in my experience, they don't always look the same, even when the aspect ratio is the same. I think this happens when the panel2.cfg specifies a combination of Resolution, Center, and Origin that cannot be displayed as is (at least not without turning off the camera restrictions); something has to give, and the two programs end up interpreting the parameters in different ways.

Thanks Velaro. I tried what you suggested and managed to reduce the train image to a more suitable proportion. I will use this method for other trains that are too large when opening up in OpenBVE.

I also checked the panel2.cfg and it is already set at 510, 350 therfore don't see any point in changing it.

Try Center = 510, 450.

Re: Default cab alignment

Postby sladen on Sun, 18th Oct 2009, 21:25

BillEWS: To look at this, it requires two screenshots from the same cab. These two screenshots are from two completely different cabs! (Compare the box with the red switch above the main console, and then look around and spot all of the other differences).

(BTW, to the various people suggesting manual edits to the panel*.cfg files; it would be better to fix and improve the algorithm in Openbve so that the issue is fixed for everyone at the same time. The ideal is to have the behaviour to be as close as possible to that of BVE4 loading, but as the source code to BVE4 is not available, improvements are only possible with specific (identical) examples of what is wrong by default!)
