Former BVE Saijou line became exclusive openBVE route today:

Check out this superb route!

Congratulations!

By the way, one initial observation; the webserver is sending the page and stating that it is in UTF-8, but the actual HTML appears to be in Shift_JIS. To solve this, the text needs converting to UTF-8 (so that it matches what the webserver expects it to be in) and then re-uploading.

I know! I downloaded and ran this route today, and I loved it! I really like the nighttime run, and the moving vehicles - it adds a great deal of realism to the route. The developer also did an incredibly detailed job of the outdoor scenery. It's great that it's exclusively for openBVE too.

This does look absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, though, the train plugin doesn't work. When I load the route I get a short list of errors, one of which says "The train plugin ATS-S904.dll is of an unsupported version". I'm using the latest version of openBVE (1.2.1.3). I think the route is supposed to have ATS-P, but it doesn't, and the ATS-SN doesn't appear to work either.

Any ideas?

Nope. I know very little about developing, though maybe he named the plugin incorrectly and openBVE thought it was an unsupported feature? I don't know.

Do you know how he does the train exterior and interiors? It's absolutely amazing, especially the realism of the interior (the hanging ads sway as the train moves!), but I can't find any of the graphics in the object or train folders.

The train objects are specified in the extensions.cfg in the train folder. The objects themselves, with the graphics, are located in Object\reren\Sjyou\ob\Train (and its subfolder), Object\reren\Sjyou\ob\txt, and Object\reren\Sjyou\ob\car. It's clever stuff, with some fancy math.

I don't know what the plug-in does or doesn't do, but the route graphics are amazing.

The latest version of the route does not feature ATS or any other safety equipment. While the train has a plugin, it is reported to be of an unsupported version. Disabling the version check mechanism revealed to me that the plugin does something, but it appears to be in an unfinished state. I assume that the plugin has been deliberately disabled as a consequence, and that the safety equipment will be installed with later versions of the route and train. Therefore, what you see now is what is to be expected.

And before anyone complains here, with v1.2.2 of openBVE, there will be a larger list of errors reported due to invalid coding in some of the animated object files. In particular, the swinging advertisements in the train interior will no longer work as they exploit a glitch in the formula parser which is now fixed.

I would like to get in contact with the author of the route, but the contact page on the website does not seem to work for me. If anyone has a direct email address, please PM me.

Fair enough, thanks very much for this reply.

There's no doubt that the route graphics look amazing...

http://tozai77.blog.shinobi.jp is the author's development blog. I can't find any contact information there, but on his latest post (it's in Japanese, but I ran it through Google Translate and did my best to understand the nonsensical return), I think he says that the Saijou line is a "public trial" and that it will continue to be modified; he also acknowledges that there are issues with the ATS plugin for the Saijou line train. Have a look and see if I understood it correctly (Michelle can read Japanese, I think?)

This is the first route that I have ever found that has moving vehicles. Does anyone know of any other routes with moving vehilces? I get a message that there ar 59 files missing. I have downloaded twice and still get 59 missing files. Is anyone familiar with this? The route is excellent and runs fine for me.

I only get 34 errors reported. However from what has been reported here I am simply ignoring them. Likewise, I wasn't able to get the programmed train started and ran it with the Matsuura 700 and everything ran OK. It's a really nice route and the moving vehicles are excellent. I haven't noticed any swaying signs as yet.

It is an excellent night route and looks very realistic. Congratualtion to the auther.

I did get some missing objects reported: a lot of the Japanese routes use objects from the Uchibo route, so I tried pasting files with the same names as the missing ones from the Uchibo objects folder into the Saijo objects folder. Then I didn't have any missing objects. Whethet they are actually the correct objects is another question.

As BillEWS says, though, it seems to work fine without the missing objects in any case.

@bomba: if you want to see other moving trains, the London Underground Northern Line has them - preceding trains and stuff. I think the trains passing on the other side of the tracks move too, though I could be wrong - I haven't played that route in a long time. If you run that route, a word of advice: don't drive too fast. The preceding train drives quite slowly.

Also, I have the same problem. I get 59 errors if i use Saijou Line + supplied train, and only 19 if I use some other train, like the E231-900 MITSUBISHI. (tangent: I don't like this train - very slow acceleration) All routes usually have some sorts of errors. According to Michelle, "...with v1.2.2 of openBVE, there will be a larger list of errors reported due to invalid coding in some of the animated object files. In particular, the swinging advertisements in the train interior will no longer work as they exploit a glitch in the formula parser which is now fixed."

@BillEWS: The supplied train works fine for me. The swaying ads are part of the supplied train. You know how Japanese trains have hanging ads inside the train? The train interior has the swaying ads.

@wilsontown: That's a very interesting solution.

I run the Saijou Line on Open BVE 1.2.1.3 with the supplied train, S904-7200. When I use the exterior view, I only see a grey retangular box. When I move inside the train it is transparent. How are some of you seeing the interior and exterior of the S904-7200? If I use the "LT1995 open_bve" train I can see interior and exterior.
