Missing objects (Tokyo Metro Tozai Line, Toei Shinjuku Line)

Postby h_leung on Mon, 21st Sep 2009, 23:30

Whenever I try to run the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line or Toei Shinjuku Line, openBVE always reports a massive number of "objects not found", and some objects are misplaced.

Tokyo Metro Tozai Line
- reports one hundred and sixteen missing objects
- near Toyocho Station, roadway objects that are supposed to be on the bridge appear over the track
- the entire Nakano Station (terminal station) is missing. The entire thing. There's a signal at the end of the station, and that's it.

The route is available at http://tozai.s77.xrea.com/BVE/ETozai.html.

Toei Shinjuku Line
- platforms at every underground station missing
-track objects mislaid; on aboveground sections there is a set of tracks floating in midair alongside the actual tracks, which isn't supposed to be there; at some stations there are tracks laid at crazy angles across the main lines
- all the station announcements play like a extremely-sped-up cartoon

This route is available at http://miki.d-syako.com/bve_addons-English.html.

Can anybody tell me how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

@ h_leung,

Try to install BVE2 in the same folder as where you put your openBVE program (and related files). This worked for me, most of the objects indeed show, but as for the announcements, unfortunately this cannot help the sped-up sound problem in openBVE.

P.S If your PC is Vista, BVE2 won't work on it.

Hi tiukengleng1994,

I tried installing BVE2 in the same folder as openBVE. Nothing changed. I know that there's nothing wrong with the route itself, because the route used to work perfectly fine, though under what conditions I unfortunately don't recall. I am going to try installing openBVE on a different computer (and using the original 1.0.0.0 version) to see if that makes a difference.

Unfortunately, looks like both routes are not compatible with OpenBVE.

The coding structure is in BVE2 and OpenBVE was not able to recognise the syntax, hence the missing objects.

Anyone else has similar problems?

As for the Tozai line, have these things in mind:

  • Redownload the route in order to ensure it is complete. It has been updated in September this year anyway.
  • A sin many developers do: Their route depends on files of others routes, but they don't indicate which ones. In this case, you also need to have the Uchibo route for BVE 2.
  • Set the encoding to Shift_JIS. Essentially all Japanese routes are encoded this way. The wrong encoding might lead to character garbage, and in some cases, to files being misidentified if they use Japanese characters, for example.
  • Mind comments from the authors site. In this case, it is said that the sound files are not available due to server capacity limitations (thus leading to a number of sound files being reported as missing).
These things in mind, the route seems to render normally for me. As for any other route, see if these things help as well.

hongjian and michelle: Thank you very much for your suggestions. (I'd been wondering why the author of the Tozai Line kept posting sound files but not providing a link for them.) I will try them and get back to you. =D

Toei Shinjuku Line:Although the author's picture shows that there's platform, but mine doesn't have platform too.Maybe must download Uchibo Line object files.
Tokyo Metro Tozai Line:I don't have the "170 files missing"problem, but I have the Toyocho Stn having road. The road I have it too.Try redownloading.
