This will happen when the train does not include exterior models for the locomotive and carriages (although the number of cars wouldn't always be 10). Could you give specific examples of trains you have tried? Please include download locations if you do.

I download them at http://www.bvestation.com/maindown.php#trains

R44
R1
R62
R143

Whenever I open a route I get a bunch or errors with something like "Red Transparency value has to be a valid number between 1 and 255"I get it with blue sometimes too

All the trains I have downloaded are 10

(Where can I get trains that do have exterior models?)

If memory serves me, one or two trains at BVEstation come with exterior views but most do not, which is why openBVE substitutes these grey boxy default exteriors.

You can find a list of UK trains with exteriors at http://www.bve-exchange.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5143. There is also quite a bit of Asian and East European stock with exteriors; you should be able to find some of them by browsing the Announcements forum here.

As for these errors ... they are bugs in the route, not openBVE, and fixing them yourself pretty much requires a working knowledge of openBVE object coding. Is there a lot of stuff in the routes that doesn't look right? Have the developers said anything on that subject at the BVEstation forum?

The developers on the NYCTA forums are well aware of this issue. Nothing is to be done at this time due to development in new routes that are more suitable for openBVE with higher coding technology and textures. Most of these errors are generated from the use of the transparency code 256, when the agreed maximum is supposed to be 255. This is what causes many of the static objects on the trains to appear with an excess of blue. You can fix it yourself by going into the object files and correcting the amounts, but this is not recommended as it is highly tedious and time consuming.

It's not very noticeable so I'll leave it as that

To:Velaro) Also Do certain trains have to be used with certain tracks because I downloaded a train set from the site you told me and I took off the brake and put the reverser in "F" And that other thing to "P3" and the train won't move at all.

I think it was the UK safety systems simulated by those trains that didn't let you move. Most of them show a short key guide if you look to the right (or in some cases, down). You may want to take a look at the downloads at http://www.trainsimcentral.co.uk/; the Class 158 train and Class 323 (unrefurbished) downloads come with detailed driving instructions for diesels and electrics respectively, and I think the Northern Line download includes information that help with the London Underground stock. You may also find the driving section of the BVE 4 guide at http://www.bve-exchange.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1227 helpful.

These trains can, in principle, be used on any route, but of course the onboard safety systems may not work properly if the route is not equipped for them; if they cause trouble, it may be easiest to just override them, and the guides I mentioned tell you how.

ATS-SN and ATS-P are Japanese safety systems. Some routes and trains come with their own implementation of it, but it is also offered as a default system by openBVE itself. See http://openbve.trainsimcentral.co.uk/use/index.html.
