Interface String: Hong Kong spoken language, Cantonese

This is a translation of Cantonese.

I am not doubting efilm's translation. In fact, the language he used is standard written Chinese, which is used on general Chinese textbook.

I had asked for efilm's opinion. He thought this is... ugly to have this, but I don't think so.

It is very funny, but I would use chinnese(NOT cantonese,非口語) to play openBVE because we always use chinnese in computer programme.

It's really rare to see spoken Cantonese in computer programs.
If you imagine that is a forum, you may think this is very normal (which is difficult to imagine)!

In fact, Cantonese is not only a dialect in China, but also commonly used in Hong Kong and Macau regions.
In Hong Kong, the "written cantonese" is popular in netizens and certain parts of printed media, but most of mass media are mainly using Traditional Chinese.

On the other hands, Traditional Chinese is commonly used in Taiwan, but it also have a dialect --Taiwanese Minnan (臺灣閩南語).
If openBVE official accept these type of dialect, I am afraid many netizens would have their request of "written dialects" to openBVE's language string.

I'm afraid that there is no one who would only understand the Cantonese translation but not the other Chinese translations.

In fact, the Chinese written language and the spoken language are separated. Cantonese is one of the dialects used in Canton (Guangdong). Some Cantonese words used Chinese characters to represent but some of them may not be found in a dictionary.

Written Cantonese is mainly used in Internet for chatting. Some advertisements and some newspapers in Hong Kong / Macao used written Cantonese because it is vivid. But in formal situations (e.g. exams, reports, notices, etc.), we won't use written Cantonese because it is considered as informal. Thus, it is difficult to find a software which include written Cantonese as user interface language.

Um...I think the Written Cantonese are not required to include to the openBVE.

I want to say is that every HongKonger would know the Traditional Chinese but not the Written Cantonese, and the education of Hong Kong, only the Traditional Chinese would be taught, and all the exams are allowed to use Traditional Chinese only.

And the written Cantonese is not a standard written language, it's a variants written language from Chinese (both the Traditional and the Simplified), and it would only used at the internet, some advertistment, (sometimes on) newspaper, as the above replies have been talked.

And every applications are not use Written Cantonese, only Traditional Chinese, WinRAR, Firefox, eMule, Windows Live Messenger, etc.. But is there any application(s) is/are included a Written Cantonese language string file? Of course no.

Also, so many of HongKonger are agreed that the Written Cantonese is not suggested to give the students to use.

Finally, if we really to include a non-simple written language "Written Cantonese" to our openBVE, would someone write a "Written Mars Cantonese"? If true, that's terrible.

No, and the "Written Cantonese" is a written language which is refered "Traditional Chinese".
